... Last night's premiere may not have been the typical tear jerker episode of Parenthood, but I did get a little weepy. Julia finding out about her dad’s heart attack while she’s in bed with Joel was both entertaining and symbolic.  They could either replace all their equipment or take the profit and walk away.  Awkward, yes, but so good and honest. Joel and Julia get a surprising phone call.

He wants to keep the kids out of the decision making process. In the hospital cafeteria they have Amber's baby shower.  It was like Hank was speaking for all the Joel fans as he idolized him from just across the room.  She went back to work earlier this season when they started experiencing financial difficulties with just Crosby working. The third option is to take some time and decide exactly what to do after he has a chance to rest up.Crosby and Adam argue in the car about the insurance policy as Crosby wonders why this is all happening now, especially since grandma is going strong in her 90s.When Julia says hey to Zeek, he crashes as she and Joel look on with Camille at his side.Zeek wonders how they hell he and Millie got there, wishing they could just go back and have some fun. A lot of laughter.  Later, Drew returned the favor and gave Hank his blessing to be with his mom. I feel like this will end up a yes with some massaging (now an actual massage, though that could help too).Joel and Julia are back!…hesitantly.  Zeek Braverman isn’t even all that old in comparison, as even Crosby points out that their grandmother is still alive at 94. He thinks that's what Zeek will remember before he piles Hank into the group of losers Sarah comes home.

 They presented her with book of letters from each of the mothers in the family which they proceeded to read aloud.  That’s a scene that’s all too familiar in my own house, as my parents received countless calls like that over the years as my grandparents aged. Amber receives help from her grandparents. Just then, Joel walks in with eight coffees.Adam gets a call from The Luncheonette about an alarm going off. Parenthood marked its 100th episode last night in fine fashion. She doesn't want the others to see her like this, but she doesn't think Zeek's going to make it.  It’s short and uncertain, and many of the characters are forced to recognize this in light of Zeek’s setback.In the midst of all their pressing questions in the waiting room, Adam and Crosby find out that the Luncheonette was looted. It's making fluids back up into his lungs.  Adam got a quote that far exceeded their expectations.

 Thankfully Jasmine supports her husband with the first of many “life is short” quotes of the night. You gotta hang in there,” she tells him.  It was really sweet though how Camille’s letter was saved for last. So I was surprised when his condition didn’t turn out to be quite as dire: he’d have a choice to make about surgery after going home and thinking about it, but all of his options would have a chance of death.

Do you think we’ll ever see Adam stand up for himself?  It wouldn’t be the first husband-wife business in the Braverman family, so I could definitely see this happening. She's surprised and unsure what to say.

Adam admits he now views The Luncheonette as a weight around his neck and wants to let it go. Parenthood Season 6 has been a stellar moment for me every week.
