I understand several factors dictate battery life, but my XT has sat inside my house in an unarmed state and the most I can get out of the battery is 3 months. Unless there are different batteries that are recommended from the Energizer Ultimate Lithium, I don’t see the point in getting replacement batteries.Possible answer is low QC with Chinese components. Your choice.Within 24 -36 hours, depleted batteries camera offline.Called tech support said the camera had a problem, they sent me a new set of lithium batteries.I have the same problem with one camera.I just direct messaged you so we can discuss this further! Thanks for the quick response.
The other test you want to be sure to ask for is a parasitic battery drain test. Once the sync module, camera, and mobile app are all 3 talking to each other, as well as talking to the Blink servers, the red light went off and the camera then goes to sleep.I am told that the Drone business is like this too.The only thing I can think of is the wi-fi connection, but according to the app both connection to the wifi and sync module are full. This way you can attempt to isolate the issue by determining if the cameras location is the cause of the battery drain.
Give it a shot, if it works well, great.
Unless my wifi is going in and out throughout the night I can’t think of any other reason the battery life is so short. The 1st thing I noticed when I bought my Blink system is as soon as I installed the batteries in a camera, a dim red light wash flashing out of the PIR sensor’s Fresnel lens. Contacted support as Ronsec suggested. But the battery may not work well for the camera, or maybe even break it. It does sound like it is likely a hardware issue and I’m sure our team will replace your cameras if that does turn out to be the problem. My hunch is the camera burns up power trying to talk to the sync module. My question for you is, why leave batteries in a device you know you are not going to use?
Can’t remember if there was a red light coming from the PIR upon initial setup, but the only time I’ve ever notice the red light in the PIR after setup is when the IR is active. This sounds stupid, but I would replace the batteries 2 more times, noticing that the battery life was dreadfully bad, and after the second battery replacement decided to leave it alone for ~year w/o replacing the batteries, and since I wasn’t really using it I didn’t bother looking it up… Until now. Sometimes called a battery draw test, this test measures the electrical current flowing out of your car’s battery when everything is supposed to be shut off. Same battery position. You will fill up your clip roll quickly and you’ll get notifications of high camera usage.Last night, I received a “low battery” alert from Blink for one of my cameras. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, change Smart Alerts to Standard or Light, or adjust the direction of your Ring product. I have replaced the lithium batteries four times now and none in my other 4 cameras. For one reason or another, I haven’t really used it, and has sat in my house in an unarmed state all this time.As expected I’m outside warranty, and the only thing support will do for me is send replacement batteries, since I’ve already replaced the batteries 2-3x with the same results I responded asking for troubleshooting help instead. As such, batteries drained. Thanks for the help.Welcome to the forums! In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the Live View to look or speak through your camera. They should last 7200 seconds.
Then pull the battery cover … I have cams that are almost 2 yrs old and are armed every night and have not had the batteries replaced. This is one of the reasons why Blink recommends this type.I experienced the same problem. They have said that rechargeable batteries aren’t a good idea for these cameras, but they haven’t been super specific about why. The point is that the XT would drain batteries even in an unarmed state at a quick rate. Thinking way back to when I first installed the cameras, it was obvious an unconnected camera was trying to do something - trying to communicate.
That's right, 2 years! When you say lithium, are you using Energizer Ultimate Lithium?I’m sorry you are having this issue!
The red “replace” indicator did not remain resident in that camera’s page very long, but I did get an alert warning. I hope this continues!
