Taurus, the Bull, is the second sign in the Zodiac and represents those born between April 20 and May 20.. Taurus, comes from the story of Europa. She was the daughter of King Agenor of Phoenicia and Telephassa. ; the summer, from their appearing to the rising of Arcturus; and the autumn, till their setting again. Perhaps the best known is the Pleiades star cluster.
It contains a number of fascinating stars and other objects to explore. The Pleiades stars are hot, young blue stars that move through a cloud of gas and dust. Taurus, the Bull, le Taureau of France, il Toro of Italy, and der Stier of Germany, everywhere was one of the earliest and most noted constellations, perhaps the first established, because it marked the vernal equinox from about 4000 to 1700 B.C., in the golden age of archaic astronomy; in all ancient zodiacs preserved to us it began the year. It's one of the few constellations that looks somewhat similar to its name, even though it's a stick figure. This cluster is a collection of several hundred stars, but only the seven brightest can be seen without a telescope or binoculars.
Taurus is a large and prominent constellation in the northern hemisphere's winter sky. Indeed, the name "Taurus" comes from the Latin word for "bull."Many cultures saw a bull in this pattern of stars. {Page 395} That all these wrote better than they knew is graphically shown by Miss Clerke where, alluding to recent photographs of the cluster by the Messrs. Henry of Paris, she says:The mighty Bull is lame; His leg turns under;By the sky and the night star'Have reapt wilde oates for wheate.Thro' scudding drifts the rainy Hyades vext the dim sea; Many a night I saw the Pleiads, rising through the mellow shade, Glitter like a swarm of fire-flies tangled in a silver braid. And sullen front, uprising large and dim,In various ages their title has been taken for noteworthy groups of seven in philosophy or literature. Please try again. The brightest star in Taurus is alpha Tauri, also known as Aldebaran. Taurus (Latin for "the Bull"; symbol: , Unicode: ♉) is one of the constellations of the zodiac, which means it is crossed by the plane of the ecliptic. Taurus (Latin for "the Bull") is one of the constellations of the zodiac and is located in the Northern celestial hemisphere.Taurus is a large and prominent constellation in the northern hemisphere's winter sky. Lastly appear the Pleiades of Connecticut, the popular, perhaps ironical, designation for the seven patriotic poets after our Revolutionary War: Richard Alsop, Joel Barlow, Theodore Dwight, Timothy Dwight, Lemuel Hopkins, David Humphreys, and John Trumbull, â all good men of Yale. The Moon wades through Hyads bright,Canst thou not arrange together the rosette of diamonds of the Pleiades ?And, many centuries before him, Hesiod said that their appearance from the sun indicated the approach of harvest, and their setting in autumn the time for the new sowing; while Aristotle wrote that honey was never gathered before their rising.
