Located in Inala, 18 km South West of Brisbane CBD, our clinic is staffed by GPs, nurses, allied health and Aboriginal health workers, and visiting medical specialists.
Nola started as a hospital-based nurse, and worked with Dr Noel Hayman, establishing the Inala Indigenous Health Service in outer Brisbane.

In 1981 the then Council of Management sought new premises to accommodate the many programs that the service was now providing. Also known as Inala Indigenous Health Service, we are a Queensland Health service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Clinical, Specialists and Allied Health services are accessible for elderly and disability persons via intercom access point at the basement entry of Building 1, all other clients and visitors to report to Main Reception via entry on Wirraway Parade. ATSICHS Brisbane was formed by community members and concerned general practitioners as a … Opening its doors in a shopfront at Red Hill we provided primary health care to the Indigenous community around Spring Hill.In 2009 we completed major capital works and commenced expanded operations at Woolloongabba, Woodridge, Northgate and Acacia Ridge. We have now grown to be one of the largest Indigenous community organisations in Queensland, and proudly remain community-owned and managed. We provide a diverse range of health and ancillary services for Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander people living in Brisbane and Logan, with the main service located at Woolloongabba and with satellite services at differing times over its history in the suburbs of Inala, Woodridge, Acacia Ridge and Sandgate.

The Inala Indigenous Health Service aims to promote, maintain and improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by offering culturally appropriate health care. In 1995, when asked to set up the Inala Indigenous Health Service, the first thing Dr Noel Hayman did was ask with the Inala community and elders what they wanted and needed. The facility has parking accessible on Brolga Street. © The State of Queensland (Queensland Health) 1996-2020 We are owned, managed and staffed by local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In 2006 we moved to temporary premises in West End as a result of plans for the construction of a major tunnel in Brisbane.ATSICHS Brisbane was formed by community members and concerned general practitioners as a small volunteer group in the early 1970s. Our history The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service (ATSICHS) Brisbane formally commenced operations in 1973 at a converted shop front in Red Hill. In 1985 we moved to 10 Hubert Street in Woolloongabba,  a location that was historically close to where large numbers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples lived in Brisbane. The current range of services include: general clinic, dietician and diabetic educators; family and child health; antenatal clinic; paediatric clinic; youth clinic and services; women’s health; men’s health; eye clinic; podiatry clinic; social health and wellbeing; hearing clinic; and dental. As a primary health care service we play a key role in ameliorating the impact of social, political and environmental factors on the health status of our community by enhancing access to culturally appropriate and high-quality services that target priority conditions at key stages across the life course. In 2008 we formally changed our name to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service (ATSICHS), in recognition of the two distinct cultural sub-groups that make up the Indigenous population of Brisbane. In 1976 we moved to South Brisbane where our service continued to expand. Seventeen years later, our service employs 15 people who work in the local community. This led to the establishment, in 1995, of the Inala Indigenous Health Service (IIHS), which operated out of three rooms as part of the Inala Health Centre General Practice and was staffed by one Aboriginal doctor (N E H) and, shortly thereafter, one Aboriginal nurse (N E W).
